PORTAL-INSTRUCTIONS-PARENTS - UPDATED 10/22/2020
Dear Patients and Families,
As is always the case with life transitions, this one comes with mixed emotions. As I announce my retirement, I am both excited for a new chapter to begin, but sorrowful to see such a large part of my life to come to a close. Taking care of my patients (and their parents) has been the love and privilege of my life. Over the last 28 years, I have immensely enjoyed getting to know all of my patients and watching them grow from infants into wonderful teenagers , as well as trying my best to keep them healthy along their journey into adulthood. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, and I hope to keep up with you as I see you around Ellicott City.
The practice on Chevrolet Drive will close on Friday, October 16th, 2020. We will still be open for well and sick visits until then, as well as seasonal flu shots. As many of you are also very attached to the office manager, Tenesha Clark, know that she will be continuing at Pediatric Partners over in Westminster at our billing office.
Our website, www.pediatricpartnersmd.net, will have a portal available so all patients can get their shot records as well as growth charts and visits for their new providers. Please click on the Ellicott City site to get complete instructions on how to obtain a portal account and get access to your children's charts. In mid September, our vendor is changing how this is done and you will need to call the office for a temporary password. So please do this in the next month for a smoother experience.
Please call the office in September to schedule your flu shots, because of social distancing and trying to minimize patient to patient contact, we will give appointments. We will need to space visits and may come to the parking lot to decrease any exposure on days when weather permits. I feel that flu shots are especially important this year to minimize confusion and effects of having potentially 2 infections simultaneously.
I hope you and your families remain healthy and happy. Please keep eating healthy foods, stay active and wear your helmets and sunscreen. Study hard, have fun and be kind. In the immortal words of a very wise Pooh bear, "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."
Claudia Beck, MD

Before your baby arrives:
To help you choose your baby’s pediatrician, Pediatric Partners offers “meet the doctor” visits. We want you to feel comfortable with your baby’s doctor and there is no charge for theses visits.
Our providers see newborns at these hospitals:
St. Agnes Hospital
Howard County General Hospital
After your Baby Arrives:
One of our pediatricians will come to the hospital to examine your baby within 24 hours after birth. After your baby is discharged from the hospital, we will want to see you and your newborn in the office. Please call to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
Be sure to inform your insurance company that your newborn has arrived!
Seeing children and parents at regular intervals is important in maintaining your child’s health. Evaluating growth and development, discussing safety, nutrition, behavior and answering age related questions are the functions of well child/adolescent visits. We encourage the following schedule of visits; (the ages mentioned are approximate):
- Hospital Newborn Exam
- Within 2-3 days of discharge
- 2-4 weeks of age
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- Yearly visits ages 2-6 years
- After age 6, yearly or alternate years.
During some of these visits, immunizations will be given and routine laboratory tests may be done.
Vision and hearing tests are also given regularly. We encourage advance scheduling of well childcare. For infants, please schedule your next check up at the end of your visit. Otherwise, we suggest you call 6-8 weeks ahead of the time you wish to be seen.
Sick visits may only be scheduled the same day of the visit. Chronic diseases follow up and medication management appointments may be made in advance.
A Pediatrician is always on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Saturday office hours are available for sick visits. Please call at 8:30am for an appointment.
Our pediatricians perform yearly physicals and college entry physicals with the necessary vaccinations to ensure the best for your teen’s health.
We follow the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for immunizations. Some vaccinations get moved around based on flu vaccine administration as well as temporary national shortages of a vaccine.
If your child is going to need a physical for school, sports, or camp, please call us 6-8 weeks in advance to schedule an appointment. Please bring all necessary forms with you to the visit. In addition, please complete your portion of the form prior to the visit. Remember that they often require the physical and form within a certain time period before the activity. Make sure you follow these requirements and make the physical appointment accordingly.
